Bradwell on Sea Flower Show Winners 1899

In Victorian times Bradwell Flower Show was one of the highlights of the area when people from Bradwell on Sea, Dengie, St Lawrence and Tillingham all competed to show who was best at growing flowers, vegetables and in country crafts such as honey making.

There were three classes for each competition - Open to all from the four parishes, Farm labourers only and Tradesmen, Artisans and Farm Bailiffs.

The Essex County Standard recorded the events at the 1899 show.

A procession of 50 to 60 cyclists in fancy dress assembled at the White Horse Inn at Dengie and led by Southminster Brass Band rode to the showground at Rectory Park, Bradwell on Sea.

There were a high number of entries.

The Essex County Standard listed members of the committee and the overall champion who was Mr W F A Cook from Tillingham who displayed potatoes.

The people below all are listed as prize winners in the show.
