Who's Who of Essex 1935

In the 1930's Ebenezer Baylis who were a firm of publishers based in Worcester printed a series of Who's Who books about individual counties.

Agents contacted potential clients who were invited to supply details and a subscription.

The Essex edition was published in 1935 as a limited edition priced at one guinea which would be about £60 in modern times.

Typical entries include full name, occupation, address, date and place of birth, education, marriage, recreation , employment, public service, clubs and any honours.

The contents provide an interesting snapshot of the influential members of the community in Essex although there are many glaring omissions who were for some reason were not invited to participate or more likely declined to become involved.

Listed below are the People from Burnham on Crouch and the villages of the Dengie Hundred who are included in this book.
