Will of James Carder of Purleigh 1835

In the name of God Amen I James Carder of Purleigh in the county of Essex Farmer being of sound and disposing mind and memory thanks be to God for the same hereby revoking all former Wills  by me made do declare this to be my last Will in manner following that is to say

I give devise and bequeath to my dear Wife Hannah Carder All that messuage or Tenement and piece and parcel of land and hereditaments situate in Purleigh aforesaid holden of the manor of Le Haux which I purchased of Mr William Lewis To hold the same Messuage or Tenement Land and Hereditaments to my said Wife for and during the term of her natural Life she keeping the said Messuage or Tenement in Tenantable repair and not doing any wilful Spoil or damage to the said Land and from

And immediately after the decease of my said Wife I give and devise the said messuage tenement land and hereditaments to unto my Niece Ann Way To hold unto and to the use of my said niece her heirs and assigns for ever

I give and bequeath to my said Wife Hannah Carder the use but not the property of and in all the household furniture plate Linen and China in and about the Keeping Room of the messuage or tenement now occupied by me at Purleigh aforesaid and also the Beds Bedding and furniture of the Chamber over the same for and during the term of her natural Life and from and immediately after my said Wife’s decease I give and bequeath the same unto my said Niece Ann Way absolutely to and for her own absolute use and benefit and disposal

And as to all my singular the rest residue and remainder of my Messuages or Tenements Land and hereditaments and household furniture plate Linen  China and ready money Stock in Trade of every description Securities for Money Book and other debts and all other my real and personal Estate and Effects  Goods Chattels and Credits after payment of my just debts funeral Expences Probate of this my Will and all Expences attending the execution hereof I give devise and bequeath the same unto my said Wife her heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever to and for her and their own absolute use benefit and disposal

And I hereby nominate and appoint my said Wife Hannah Carder sole executrix of this my Will In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty fifth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty Five
